Night Shift

INSIDE CLARENCES HIDEOUT

Minions are on the out skirts of the room and Blake is staring outside with the window open. Clarence walks up and stands next to him.

CLARENCE: We are almost there…. A couple more weeks and we can surface. Then we can take over this city and knock down that government tower and all of the officials. We are so close to finally be free. This city will be free of this Utopian society and connect with the rest of the world. So close….

BLAKE: We have come a long way.  I am glad you picked me up from the sidewalk and can now call you friend.

Clarence pats Blake on the back

CLARENCE: Come on; stop reminiscing, we have work to do. I got a call awhile back from the northern sector. Go and check it out.

BLAKE: Got it.

OUTSIDE MAYBE A DOCK OR SOMEWHERE WITH DRAMATIC LIGHTING

Everything is quiet and no one is around

BLAKE: Now where is everyone?

Blake opens a secret panel on a wall and walks inside

INSIDE HAS VEHICALS AND IS A SUPPLY CENTER

BLAKE: Something is not right.

CLYDE: Hold it right there!

Clyde comes from behind with a shaky gun

CLYDE: I s-s-saw you out t-t-there on my patrol. w-w-what are you up t-t-to?

BLAKE: Hey you look like a good guy; now let me go and I will be on my way.

CLYDE: T-t-t-that’s not going to happen.

BLAKE: And why not.

CLYDE: Because I saw them taking your buddies a-a-a-away. You are going to d-d-d-o something. You are a bad guy.

BLAKE: take them away… Alright we both know you are not going to shoot me so let me go and I will not hurt you… I am not as bad as you might think.

Gun shakes even more

CLYDE: I am not going t-t-t—to do that
Blake walks away

CLYDE: H-h-hey, hey wait!

BACK AT THE HIDEOUT THERE IS A WAR GOING ON BETWEEN THE MOB AND THE POLICE. BLAKE GOES THROUGH ANOTHER SECRET PASSAGE TO A SMALL ROOM WHERE CLARENCE IS BY HIMSELF

BLAKE: What is going on?

CLARENCE: It was a surprise attack. Two of our sectors are gone and…

CLYDE: I-I-I told you not to walk away Blake Thompson or Super Accuracy Man! I-I-I wanted to be like you and I became a police officer. But you are just a bad guy.

Clyde follows Blake through the secret door. Clyde shoots his gun. Blake activates his super power and shoots his gun. The bullets deflect each other. Blake becomes blind.

CLYDE: I know your weakness Super Accuracy Man! I loved you as a child! Get him Sir!

Clyde shoots again but Blake jumps in front of Clarence and gets hit. Blake hears a sound of a gun cocking behind him but it’s to late and Clarence is shot.

BLAKE: Dramatic NOOOOOOOOO

Blake shoots the other guy that got Clarence. Blake’s sight slowly comes back to see Clarence on the ground, dead. He crouches down and then hears another gun cocking and a cold metal pressed to his head that is shaking.

 CLYDE: I-I-I should kill you… But you are right-t-t-t. I am a good person and I can’t.

BLAKE: Sometimes you need to be good and kill. Everything is a balance. There has to be an equal amount of good and bad in the world otherwise it becomes like this, suppression and struggling. This city is not perfect and it will never be perfect. That’s what I learned. I destroyed that balance and I just wanted to return it… Go ahead and shoot me. Return this city to a complete utopia.

There is a pause and the gun is released from his head.

CLYDE: I am not doing this for you…. I am doing this for the city. Because without you guys I would be out of the job. I want to round up some more evildoers.

Clyde leaves and Blake is alone with Clarence’s body.
